Like it better than e-edition, I've been checking periodically to see if the Freep was available on the Kindle and noticed yesterday that it is. If there was a big announcement about it being available, I missed it. Anyway, I read today's paper entirely on the Kindle and find I prefer it to the e-edition. There was something about having to click on the article and then only seeing that article in the e-edition that caused me to skip over a lot of things I would have at least skimmed in the paper edition. And I was going days without reading it because I simply forgot about it. It was disconcerting to so quickly lose the 30+ year habit of reading the paper each morning.

Good value, Let me begin by expanding on Amazon's description of what you do and don't get compared to the dead tree version. You don't get anything in map or table form, such as weather, comics, TV listings, puzzles, or sports standings. You also don't get some syndicated features, such as Dear Abby and other advice columns.

The Globe and Mail

Yes, there are pictures, There are pictures for many articles, at least half. I read a lot of reviews saying there weren't any pictures, but they are mostly from a year ago, and the version I get with my Kindle (over Wifi every morning) in Vancouver comes with a whole bunch of pictures. One for most articles. I don't have a paper version to compare to, but really, pictures on a small screen won't compare to a large, colour, frontpage anyways. If that's what you're after, you're barking up the wrong tree.

Daily News offers its readers quality editorial

Great for the price, As an avid newspaper reader from New York who lives in Chicago, I had been looking for a better way to get my Daily News fix on my train ride to work than the Daily News app on my smart phone. The Daily News on my Kindle Fire provides me with that better option. Is this version the same quality as other newspapers on the Kindle? No. Is this version the same as reading the paper copy of the Daily News? No. Is this version easy to navigate without the sections clearly broken out? No. Is this version worth the $0.99/monthly charge? Absolutely. You can get the majority of the articles you're looking for by just searching through the issue.

Best Newspaper, I decided to type this review up because there are plenty for the New York Times and Wall Street Journal, but not enough for the newspapers from smaller markets. I'm giving the Philadelphia Inquirer five stars not because it is perfect, but because it is better than all the other papers I've downloaded, all of the bestsellers included. In other words, I'm grading on a curve. There are some kindle related navigation issues which could be improved, but that is probably more of a factor of the kindle or the kindle's development software itself and less of a problem with the paper as explained below.

With the Chicago Tribune, you'll have everything you need to stay informed

Graphics update, Well the Tribune finally has photos. They're kind of nice to have even if they make the file 5-10 times bigger (a hassle if you're in a war zone with crappy internet access). The thing is, since they now include graphics for the news stories there really isn't any reason not to include comics as well. I can get the Tribune online for the same price with the comics included, but the file is 5-10 times even larger than it is now. Again, only a problem where I'm at but even when I'm home I don't carry a laptop with me everywhere as I can and do with the Kindle.

The Boston Globe is the most widely circulated

Finally! Easy to Read; Easy to Skim, I live in Boston and had been waiting for the Boston Globe to become available for the Kindle since mine arrived on December 4, 2007. I subscribed the first day I found out about it and have not been disappointed. I am not a big print newspaper fan, I find them environmentally unfriendly, dirty (think blank ink on hand), and they contain a lot of information I usually have no interest in (ads, sports, stock lists, etc.) so they are thicker than I need them to be and messy. I won't even take the two free papers offered at the subway on most days (the excellent Metro and the whiny bloggy Boston Now). On the other hand I find the web version of newspapers hard to drill down to find the articles that apply only to today - if you know the topic you can do a search but there's really no way to tell if I at least skimmed all the articles for the day.

The International Herald Tribune collects and distributes world news

The best that's out there, This is a great newspaper, particularly on the Kindle. As others have stated, it has global reach. You won't find U.S. domestic issues here, but you will find a good deal of U.S. political/financial information.

Nicely laid out. Improvements that could be made have more to do with the Kindle itself than anything about the paper. There are a few photos ... just enough to be interesting. They are of medium quality but do break up the text.

The San Francisco Chronicle contains most articles

If you haven't tried it recently, you haven't really tried it, Like many others, I tried a subscription to the Chronicle a year ago and cancelled during the 14-day free period. This past November, however, I decided to cancel my regular paper and started trying Kindle versions of several papers from across the country (Las Vegas, Seattle, Sacramento, San Jose, and back to San Francisco). The Chronicle is by far the best of these papers and is available at the lowest price. In addition, it had noticeably improved over what I tried a year ago -- nice pictures to accompany selected articles, summaries of all major sporting events, etc. Further, it has always been waiting on my Kindle when I have breakfast shortly after 6:00. Clearly the complaints about late delivery are out of date.

The Financial Times, one of the world's leading business

WONDERFUL!!!! Too expensive though, One of my favorite things about the kindle is the money that I save by buying books and magazine/newspapers cheaper than getting them in print form. For example, the NY Times is normally $250 a year for paper (discounted) and only $168 for the Kindle version.

HOWEVER, the FT paper edition is only $103 a year for paper while the Kindle version costs $113. Not a big difference, but why wouldn't I get the paper delivered to my house every morning for less money? review By Chrobrego

Includes more of the articles than the blog and [...] articles, Thanks to Amazon's 14 day free trials, I was able to try both the Onion Newspaper and the The Onion Blog. The main difference is the newspaper is weekly and the blog is daily. The newspaper and blog (website) articles are the same, however the blog contains just 63% (17/27) of the articles published within the previous four days whereas the newspaper contains 92% (34/37) of the articles published within the previous 7 days, based on the issues of each I used for this analysis. Paying for a blog, and only getting 63% of the updates (and not even all the updates for the current day) is appaling. Given this is fake news, I don't mind

The Wall Street Journal Kindle and Digital Plus

Kindle + Digital Access = Great, Hopefully other publications are paying attention. The Wall Street Journal Kindle edition enables you to link your log in credentials to wsj.com for full online access. Additionally, you can use the same log in to access the iPad and iPhone apps. Paying a fair price once to access this terrific content across all of my devices is the way it should be. 

USA Today Daily Paid No-Ads Edition

Best Daily paper, I am enjoying my trial verison of USA Today and plan on keeping it for awhile. At $.50 per day ($11.99) per month, I get an informative newspaper with very good sports coverage. I have tried the Wall Street Journal and the Washington Post but have lost interest in both. Kindle Touch/NYT a good combination, I think New York Times on Kindle Touch is the best device experience the NYT has provided so far. It is easy to read, there are no ads, most of the content is there, and it just downloads every morning. The navigation is not perfect but it's okay, and the optional two column format is a great way to quickly survey the entire paper. The Kindle subscription can also be linked with a NYT online subscription for no extra charge. has not had an easy time moving onto digital devices (which is true for most of traditional media) but I think Kindle Touch/NYT is ready for prime time and I'd like to see Amazon/NYT continue
